A Pollination of His Love

Mark 16:15

The Message (MSG)

14-16 Still later, as the Eleven were eating supper, he appeared and took them to task most severely for their stubborn unbelief, refusing to believe those who had seen him raised up. Then he said, “Go into the world. Go everywhere and announce the Message of God’s good news to one and all. Whoever believes and is baptized is saved; whoever refuses to believe is damned.

The Bible says that we as Christians should go to all ends of the earth and preach the Good News to everyone so that none shall perish which is essentially God’s heart for the people He created.  How many of us actually do that?  Why are we so afraid to share Jesus with everyone we meet?  I myself can be quite shy at times and find it difficult to share with people I don’t know.  Questions pop up in my mind like crazy….what if they think I am insane?  What if they don’t believe me?  What if I tell it the wrong way and they get offended?  What if they yell at me?  What if they run? What do I do if they say no? Ugh!!!  Why should we even care??? If they do not say yes to Jesus they are say yes to eternal death in hell, and I personally do not wish that on anyone.

I know we should not use scare tactics to get people to invite Jesus into their hearts.  I also know that no one can be forced into anything.  On a further note, people often want to run from their problems instead of face them, therefore being presented with the fact that they will die and not go to heaven, does not take precedence over the Sunday night football game or the latest reality show on television.

So, with those things in mind, how DO we share the Good News across the world without offending or pushing or annoying everyone?  I know this may seem simple, but it seems to work for my husband and I.  Live the Christian life.  Share your testimony with those you meet everywhere you go.  I cannot count how many times I have left my husband alone in a restaurant to use the restroom only to come back and find our waitress in tears.  Why?  Because he shared our story and Jesus just happened to show up and soften their hearts.

In reality, it’s God who does all the work.  First He sets us free by using someone else or an event in our lives, then He just sits back and watches us share our stories and the entire time we are doing this, He is softening hearts or setting the seeds.  All we have to do is follow after Jesus and love our neighbors as ourselves.  Yes, it really is that easy.  God’s heart is that none shall perish that all would join Him in heaven one day.  We as His children, need to press into the things of God so that the end result is an outpouring or a pollination of His love.  Are we willing to become pollinators for Jesus?  It’s easy, spread your wings and buzz over to the nearest gathering of people and start sharing your heart, let God take care of the rest!

Pollinate the World

James 1:22

The Message (MSG)

22-24 Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.

Becoming a Christian is a full time journey.  We need to read our Bibles. Spread the Gospel to everyone. Follow the laws of the land. Go to church. Be who Christ designed us to be. Listen to God. Wait on God. Move when the Holy Spirit directs.  Lead by example.  Apply the Word of God to our lives. Work out our salvation.  Help the poor.  Have compassion. Don’t lie, steal or cheat. I could go on and on with things and it would soon be so overwhelming no one would want to follow after Jesus.  How about making it so simple that it would not seem like such a chore?

Love. Simple and to the point, love. Period, that is the one thing we need to be a Christian and this stems right back to God.  He loved us so much He gave us His only Son.  Because of LOVE we exist. Because of LOVE we find compassion for others.  Because of LOVE we want to share the Gospel.  Do you get what I mean?  God is LOVE and His only desire is to LOVE.  We will read the Bible because we want to experience His LOVE. We will have a desire to be more like Jesus because we want others to experience LOVE.

There is that old song that says it’s love that makes the world go round, well it’s love that created this world.  If we could all only grasp that being Christian simply takes only one ingredient LOVE, we could change this whole world for Jesus.  I encourage us all to become revived.  Fall in love with Jesus everyday.  Be filled with a desire to LOVE others even those who seem unlovable.  If we all take one big giant step of faith right now and stretch our arms open wide and proclaim into the heaven’s that we are loved, then perhaps today we could make a difference.

Psalm 119:176

I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.
Ever felt like that one lost sheep?  Like you are just wandering around waiting for someone to even notice that you are lost?  Can I tell you that I am pretty sure you are not alone?  There are so many people out there both Christian and not who are lost in this world just waiting to be noticed by someone.  Who is going to search for the lost?  We are!
God uses us for vessels to do His will.  He knows exactly where all the lost sheep are and He uses us to bring them back to Him.  The main question here is, are we really willing to be sheep finders?  Do we really want to go that extra mile just to bring someone back to the herd?  Are we willing to spend some time listening for the cry of the lost?
God calls us to His purposes.  He uses us to win souls into heaven.  Are you ready to be completely open to His purposes?  Are you willing be led to certain places at certain times to locate the lost?  My friends this what our purpose is.  It’s not to get to the top in our job.  It’s not to become the most wealthy.  It’s not to gain the whole world and it’s desires.  It is all about loving your neighbor and spreading the good news of salvation.
Who can you share Jesus with today?  Do you know anyone who is hurting who just needs a listener?  Ask God to lead you to the lost.  Choose today to set aside the things of the world so that the lost can be found before it’s too late.  God sent His Son to save the world from hell and it will take all of us to do His will to reach as many people as we can.

Walking in Love

The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. Hebrews 1:3

198graceWhat does it mean to walk in love?  Does it mean that you hang on your mate all the time and they are the center of your world?  Does it mean that with marriage you become focused on each other more than anything else?  Perhaps walking in love means that you set aside your “normal” life and learn how to become dependent on each other for what it takes to make the marriage work. Or does it mean that you surrender your will, mind and emotions to your marriage instead of God?

You may think those ideas are pretty far fetched, however for some this is their idea of a perfect marriage.  A marriage is not suppose to stop your life, it should support your relationship with God and begin to grow you stronger in that relationship.  As the two flesh become one, it means with God in the center and not that the marriage out weighs all else in your life.  God purposed for us to have a mate which is why He created woman for man to have communion with.  God delights in the union of a man and his wife but He did not intend for the couple to stop walking with Him.

So to me, walking in love is grace.  God graced two persons with a love that led them to marriage and now He wants to take that union and grow a relationship based on walking with Him.  He longs to be in the center of your life and it should not change with marriage.  If a couple seeks God first in their lives then their relationship will thrive and God will increase the love as time aspires on.

I encourage each of you who are in a marriage and you have wandered away from God being the center that you take some time to recenter God in your life.  Take time this week to seek the face of God in your marriage.  Are you still in love with your first love, Jesus?  Do you still seek His approval over your spouses?  God wants the both of you looking to Him for the answers to your marriage.  Choose to seek Him now and begin truly walking in His love.

Basking in the Sun!

“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.” 1 Chronicles 29:11 NLT

It certainly has been awhile since I but a blog upon this website!  I have been healing and preparing for my daughters’ graduation.  I have been trying to adjust to my new smile and the pain which came with it.  Now I am not 100% yet but feeling much better than even a week ago.  The picture I have for the heading was a ceramic piece my daughter created and from the moment I saw it I smile each time I see it.  It brought to mind how we sometimes just don’t appreciate the little things in life: basking in the sun, raindrops on the window sill, a butterfly and its’ fluttering and even a ripple on a crystal clear lake.

We as people in general, take so many things for granted that we fail to see the beauty in things anymore.  As our revival preacher, Steve Smith, says in great delight about Heaven, that when someone stops along the golden road even to marvel at a flower, all of heaven begins to rejoice and praise God.  Should we not be like this now if we are asking for God’s Kingdom to come upon earth?  Why do we not take time to appreciate the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea along with the array of color He has spread everywhere?  How did we get so lost in the world we have failed to see the world for it’s actual beauty?

Can you image what the Garden of Eden must have looked like?  I bet every time Adam or Eve saw something new they just marveled at it and praised God.  I would encourage all of us to appreciate the littler things in life.  Look for the hidden flower.  Search out the rare bird or the crazy insect.  Stop then and praise God for His creativity.  Stop and share it with someone else.  Take a picture and send it to a friend who needs to be reminded of God’s love.  Let’s begin to share in the beauty which we find and share Jesus along the way.

To tie in with the “turtle theme” for this blog I will tell you a story about Speedy.  This memorial day, as I was at work, a customer told us there was a snapping turtle on our front lawn.  Seeing we were not busy I went out to investigate, as I did not want him to wander into the busy traffic on the road.  As I approached him I found him basking in the sun just soaking up his surroundings.  I wondered how he may have gotten so lost since there was not real body of water near our restaurant.  As pondered this for a moment, trying to decide what I should do with him I heard this voice say, he is looking for a water source.

It made me stop an think about us as Christians, we too are looking for a water source and to me the only thing I could do was to point this turtle towards water just like we should be doing to fellow Christians and the unsaved.  There should be no hesitation, we should just know to point them toward the water source!  So I had the turtle released in the small drainage pipe behind our dumpsters where some pondish like water is in hopes he would find a better place to be than the road.  I wish there was more I could have done at that point but we got busy, which will bring me to the next blog, what we should do after leading someone to the water…..
