Dead Fish

Matthew 14:28-29

New Living Translation (NLT)

28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”

29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said.

So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.

Hmmm…heard this interesting radio spiel today which caught my attention.  It simply said that a fish can choose to jump out of it’s environment provided by it’s creator and die. They then went on to explain that when Christians jump out of what God has provided for them, they also die spiritually.  I began to ponder some things as I began to wonder about that fish choosing to jump out of it’s bowl.  Why would it do that?  How would it even know what it was jumping into or out of?  See where I am going….how do we know as Christians the same question…when we accept Jesus do we know what we are jumping out of or in to?

Let’s further examine the life of a fish.  For example purposes we will use a Beta..one who lives a single life because if you let two share a tank they will soon surely kill each other.  You (being it’s substitute parent) buy the fish.  Upon purchasing the fish you go through the motions of providing it with shelter and food and landscaping and water and chemicals to make the water safe.  In addition to all these things, you learn how to create a safe environment which is not too hot nor too cold; along with proper feeding.  Everyone following so far?

Now, let’s say this fish decides there might be something better on the outside of this PERFECT environment we have created for him.  He decides one day he just wants something different, perhaps thinking something better is just outside the bowl.  Now what do you think the last thing this fish is thinking as it is flopping on the table gasping for it’s last breath?  “Man, should’ve stayed in the bowl!”  “Why did I do that?”  “Dude, I had the perfect life”  “I wish I could jump back in”

I am sure there are many other thought processes but for the sake of time, we will just go with those.  What happens to us Christians when we get out of the bowl God has created for us?  He provides us with shelter and food and pretty things to look at.  He knows what our bodies can handle and just the right amount of things to feed us…spiritually speaking.  Why are we always trying to get out of the bowl?  Let’s see the bowl as His perfect will for our lives.  He has chosen us and placed us right where He needs us to be to fulfill our destiny….all we have to do is keep swimming; why would we ever want to get out of the bowl?

Hebrews 12:1

God’s Discipline Proves His Love ] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

One last thought on this subject is about walking on water.  We need to get out of our boats to walk on water, but we don’t have to get out of our place of destiny to do so.  We can be right where we are and begin to walk on water which is simply just walking this life in faith, knowing that we will overcome and God is right beside us the whole time.  We know that He will provide the right environment for all of us to see our destinies come to pass even if it seems impossible to us.

Wikipedia describes Walking on Water as: Walking on water is at times used as an example of an impossible task. The phrase is widely used to refer to the performance of extraordinary tasks, as in the titles of books that aim to show individuals how to break through their personal limitations and achieve dramatic success

Are you happy right where you are?  Are you content in knowing God has and will provide for your every need?  Are you willing to just keep swimming until Jesus returns? Take a moment and think about where God has placed you.  Are you willing to finish the race?

No Cookie Cutter For Me

Galatians 3:12

This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, “It is through obeying the law that a person has life.”

I chose not to be the same as everyone else.  I chose a different path than the ordinary.  I chose to seek God with all I am and not through someone else’s eyes.  I choose to continue on this path until I am in Heaven.  I am done following after man’s idea of God.  I am done with being hurt by those who call themselves Christians but are not really doing anything to change their own circumstances.  When I am standing before God in the end, it will be me and only me.  No one will be able to say the good or the bad about Brenda, except for me.
Now, having said all that, seeming to be a bit on the brassy side, my choices will lead me to love to a greater degree.  This choice for my life will enable me to have more compassion.  This choice will open my eyes so that I may clearly see just who God is.  I want to make a difference in this world but I want God to get all of the glory.  I am just a mere vessel for Him to flow through, other than that I am just a product of God’s creation.
We were created for His purposes.  We were created by Him for a relationship.  All He wants to do is LOVE because all He is, IS LOVE.  I am not sure how this world got so off course, however, I do know that if each of us choose to be who we were designed to be, then we can finally begin to change the eyes of this world.  I am convinced that the more God they see in us the more their faith will grow.
Yup, I am on my soapbox.  I am calling all Christians to begin to seek out  God’s will for their lives.  I encourage us to unite as one body with one goal in mind:  To seek out and save the lost and dying in this world.  Are you ready to move your life forward or are content to stay where you are?  Is going to church once a week enough to satisfy your longing to be different than the rest of the crowd?  I am not in a place of attack mode, I just want to show Jesus to you.  I want you to see just how much He desires to have a relationship with just you, everyday….not just Sundays.
I cannot speak for anyone else but myself.  I cannot be a Christian for anyone else.  I cannot be anything else than what God designed me to be and it is time for this Jesus Freak to start living a life worthy of being called a daughter of the King.  I am stepping into that river of provision and claiming my inheritance   Have you met this Jesus I speak of?  Of not let me introduce the two of you!
